Thoughts on Reading The Táin Bó Cúailnge.

Woot! I finally found a copy of The Táin (AKA The Táin Bó Cúailnge). Took me long enough. I've been looking for this bloody thing all year. LOL But it was worth the wait.

Interesting story, this one. I find a few things strange though, going through the tale. Cuchulainn is the most puzzling. I must have missed something, in my first glimpses through its pages, because I can't understand how it is that this boy seems to take on so many highly-trained warriors, on his own, and keep beating--annihilating--them. It doesn't make sense. Hmm... Must read more...

I really got a good chuckle from the beginning, though. Gotta love Maeve! She kicks butt. ;) Watch out, boys! She's definitely much more interesting than *gag* Deidre. Why is this included in the Táin Bó Cúailnge? I understand that they both originate from the same Medieval manuscript, but from the things I've read, it seems more people find her story much more interesting than the Táin, itself. Why? It must be that infatuation with tragedy, again. Personally, I find she and her story boring, and somewhat pathetic. Then again, I've never been impressed by.... well, let's see. Should I give a spoiler or not? Her end, shall we say? Bloody freakin' weak women don't impress me much. LOL

Let's get back to Maeve, shall we?
